Worm Farm

   The other day, we went on a field trip to none other than... the Durham Worm Farm! This is where we ordered our worms for composting a few months ago. It was really neat to see where our worms had been, how they were raised, and how they got from the dirt to our mailbox.
   The man who ran the farm taught me, my brother, and about twenty other homeschoolers and their parents all about the WORM. Basically, a worm eats dead, decaying matter and then it's castings (poop) become super nutrient rich soil for plants! The worm man even said the castings (poop) are so pure and clean that you could eat them...GROSS!!
   We bought more worms for our compost bin, and headed home to get hosed off because guess what? The giant dirt hill that everyone was playing on towards he end of our tour of the worm farm was really a giant pile of worm castings!! Eeeeuuuuu!

WE ALL WANNA CHANGE THE WORLD

Hey Everyone,
It's Hannah and Ben,

We are starting this blog because we have some ideas about what kids can do to be a part of a REVOLUTION SOLUTION.

Revolution means three things to us, and they are really important.

First, our planet is the only place there is for us to live, and while our Earth is REVOLVING slowly on its axis, we as humans are spinning wildly out of control in our use of the natural resources that are GOING to eventually run out. Where do we go once the resources run out? We need to work together to use less, waste less, and want less so that humans can keep living on this beautiful planet. There is no other planet for our future relatives to move to if we use everything up now!

Not only does revolution mean that Mother Earth is revolving perfectly on her axis to ensure our well-being while we take advantage of her gifts, we believe that to stop this out-of-control use of these resources, a revolution needs to happen, at the kid-level. If kids can stand up and say NO to wasting and throwing away things that could be recycled, composted, or shared with someone else, we kids could be just the change that makes our parents stand up and start their own revolution against waste! TAKE A STAND FOR MOTHER EARTH SO WE HAVE AN EARTH TO STAND ON 500 YEARS FROM NOW!! WE ARE THE FUTURE!

And finally, the most important thing. There is a really important word snuggling backwards inside the word REVOLUTION. That word is LOVE. We want to find a solution for the crisis our planet is in. The changes we want to make are because we love our planet. We love our Earth, and we love the people on it. Because of this, we hope you enjoy our new blog.
